Joel Edgerton Returns As Screenwriter For A ‘One Night Stand’

Aussie actor Joel Edgerton has seen his screenplay for a film entitled ONE NIGHT STAND, picked up by New Regency. The star of last year’s outstanding ANIMAL KINGDOM, WARRIOR and the better-than-expected THE THING prequel, will also serve as executive producer although he will not star. ONE NIGHT STAND is said to be a honest romantic comedy, showing one particular man and woman’s struggle in dealing with the event alluded to in the project’s self-explanatory title.

Edgerton co-wrote and featured in the 2008 Australian, head-spinning thriller THE SQUARE, which was directed by his brother Nash. An intelligent edge-of -your-seat film, THE SQUARE told the story of an affair between two neighbours that ultimately becomes destructive when one event to unite the couple turns lethal. For those yet to see this, make sure you seek it out, it really is unmissable.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
