Evil Dead Remake Loses Lily Collins As Its Lead

ABDUCTION and upcoming MIRROR, MIRROR beauty Lily Collins has dropped out of the Fede Alvarez-directed EVIL DEAD remake. Blaming ‘scheduling issues’, Collins exit leaves the film without a lead or even a cast member after being the only casting announcement thus far. The actress was due to begin shooting sometime in the summer for an expected release of 12th April 2013.

The original EVIL DEAD director Sam Raimi is producing alongside his long-time partner Robert Tapert. It came as a major surprise that Collins was confirmed as the lead. She would have played a drug-addicted character named Mia, heading out to the notorious ‘cabin in the woods’ to detox with the help of her friends (and expected demon-fodder). The lead in Raimi’s trilogy was played by the always excellent Bruce Campbell, in his signature role of Ash.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
