Orange Film Pulse Is Launched – What The Web Is Saying About Film, In One Simple Score

Film-aficionados Orange have announced the launch of the rather impressive Orange Film Pulse. It’s their new innovative tool that collates opinion from right across the internet into one place and lets film fans see which films are generating the most love, right in the all-important now and right here: www.orange.co.uk/bafta

Launched as part of Orange’s sponsorship of the Orange British Academy Film Awards, Orange Film Pulse scans tens of thousands of tweets , Facebook pages and reviews from a range of leading film news and review websites and blogs. A dedicated algorithm then analyses tone, sentiment and review scores – be they negative or positive – and summarises the love into one easy to read score out of 100.

Today they have over 35 films with Orange Film Pulse Profiles. They include these outstanding films: The Artist, My Week with Marilyn, War Horse and Hugo plus more will be added each week. A simple ticker along the top of the tool allows easy access to each film’s results.

They also have a nice and easy search option for BAFTA-nominated films from the past and present that highlights those available to enjoy with Orange Wednesdays and Film To Go, Orange’s film rental offer. The Orange Film Pulse has four columns of information which contribute to a film’s overall score:

  • Love on Twitter – the number of positive tweets this week (Friday to Friday)
  • Love on Film Club – the average rating given by the Orange Film Club community on Facebook
  • Love on Facebook – the Facebook film page with the most likes
  • Love on film sites – the average score given by selected film sites

All users can delve into the information directly through the tool to see real time tweets about a particular film, or read a review, enabling them to make a decision about what film to see, as well as being able to tweet their opinion or add a Facebook review.

Plus, Orange customers can click from within a film’s profile to request a code to watch that film at either Orange Wednesdays or via Orange Film To Go – Orange’s film download service in partnership with iTunes – and by doing so can go on to win some exclusive and awesome BAFTA related prizes including:

  • VIP ticket packages to the Orange British Academy Film Awards
  • Tickets to an exclusive BAFTA screening in London
  • BAFTA goody bags
  • Advance screenings of Disney’s John Carter in association with Odeon IMAX
  • Tickets to Orange BAFTA’s: The Final Word – the exclusive BAFTA awards night panel and live ceremony screening event hosted by Alex Zane

Orange UK Brand Director, Spencer McHugh, has this to add: “The internet offers an incredible wealth of sources and opinion on film, but that also means the experience of searching for a definitive answer or opinion can be confusing and time consuming. With Orange Film Pulse, we’re offering a simple and easy way to see what the overall opinion from the web is, and encouraging film lovers to get involved and share their love for film, all of which contributes to that film’s overall score.”
