Paul Giamatti Joins Carlei’s Romeo And Juliet

Paul Giamatti is the latest name to join Carlo Carlei’s adaption of the classic tragedy ROMEO AND JULIET. He takes the role of Friar Lawrence, starring alongside the previously announced Douglas Booth (Romeo) and Hailee Steinfled (Juliet), providing counsel to the ‘star-cross’d lovers’ only to bear witness to their tragic undoing. Also almong the youthful cast are Ed Westwick as Tybalt and Kodi Smit-McPhee as Benvolio.

Filming is said to be starting later this month for what is dubbed to be a classic remake for the ‘Twilight Generation’, and includes scenes in Mantua, paying homage to the playwright’s original setting for Romeo’s banishment and heartbreaking finale.
