Rooney Mara Joins Steven Soderbergh’s Side Effects

There is a buzz surrounding Rooney Mara since her well received performance in THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO and subsequent Oscar nomination.

Although Mara is busy filiming in Terrence Malicks LAWLESS alongside stars like Ryan Gosling, Cate Blanchet and Christian Bale, she has still found time to snatch up a vacancy left by a departing Blake Lively in the upcoming Steven Soderbergh thriller SIDE EFFECTS.

Mara will be joining Channing Tatum, Jude Law and Catherine Zeta-Jones as Emily Hawkins, a disturbed young woman abusing prescription medication to curb depression and anxiety onset by the impending release of her imprisoned husband.

Production for SIDE EFFECTS begins in April with writer Scott Z Burns producing alongside Greg Jacobs and Lorenzo do Bonaventura.
