Only a couple of days ago did we get confirmation from Robert Rodriguez, that plans were in place for a sequel to his maniac-Mexican exploitation hit, MACHETE. Now we already have a promo poster for MACHETE KILLS, and one that features the bloodied and bad-ass face of the hero himself, played by Danny Trejo. MACHETE KILLS is expected to begin shooting in April and will see Trejo’s character hired by the US government to put an end to the exploits of a major Mexican drug cartel being run by an eccentric billionaire. One who plans to spread war across the planet, using a super-weapon, based in space.
MACHETE, released in 2010 with possibly the most outlandish cast of familiar faces ever, originated from a mock trailer that was seen on the Rodriguez and Tarantino double feature GRINDHOUSE (released here in the UK as two separate features in PLANET TERROR and DEATH PROOF).
