Remakes of fairytale classics seem to be a trend at the moment. With the upcoming releases of MIRROR MIRROR and SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN, we now have another Disney classic remake to look forward to.
Producer and director Guillermo del Toro is set to put his own spin on fable BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, a project he has been involved in as producer for some time, but into which he now steps with director’s shoes as well. The main cast decision has also already been made, as actress Emma Watson has been involved in the project since last summer.
Having just finished his directing in the sci-fi action film PACIFIC RIM, now all he has to do is wait for Emma to finishes shooting YOUR VOICE IN MY HEAD with David Yates. In the mean time, writer Andrew Davies (BRIDGET JONES’S DIARY, BRIDESHEAD REVISITED) is working in a script for the film, in collaboration, of course, with del Toro himself. Despite working with Warner Bros, DiNovi Pictures’ Denise Di Novi and Alison Greenspan, this will really be a del Toro take on the Disney classic.
