Liebesman To Helm Ninja Turtles Reboot

After disappointing us last summer with sci-fi yawn-fest BATTLE: LOS ANGELES, Jonathan Liebesman will see his CLASH OF THE TITANS sequel WRATH OF THE TITANS released next month. Not only that, but it appears the director is in final negotiations to bring those ‘heroes in a half-shell’ back to the big-screen.

Originally a cult comic-book creation, THE TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES hit cartoon series saw the four martial-arts skilled mutant reptiles brought to life in their very own 1990 live-action hit movie. A further two sequels were produced with diminishing box-office returns, before they retreated back to Saturday morning television. Director Kevin Munroe attempted to breathe new life into the franchise in 2007 with an animated full-length feature entitled TMNT, but the film flopped. Now Paramount is looking to revive the franchise, with Liebesman favourite to take the reins.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
