Watch The First 7 Minutes of NBC’s Intriguing ‘Awake’

As previously reported on THN, AWAKE is the new project from NBC who recently, and cruelly, cancelled PRIME SUSPECT. Moving on, this series starring Jason Isaacs looks highly promising and very ambitious. Although it’s amongst the plethora of new US TV dramas hitting the small screen, AWAKE takes a different approach to proceedings.

Jason Isaacs, who we think is criminally underused, plays Detective Michael Britten who is in a tragic car accident with his wife and son. This event fractures his life into two competing realities. In one, his wife is dead and he needs to learn how to be a single father to his son, Rex (Dylan Minnette). He also believes he wakes up in another reality where his son is dead and he and his wife Hannah (Laura Allen) are dealing with the tragic aftermath.

Of course, we won’t know which reality is which either and so we’re bound to be taken in by the process and the journey these characters embark on. This could be a sleeper hit and although you may wonder how it can develop as a show, the likes of LOST and FRINGE prove the world can expand beyond the expected. It’s also written by HOMELANDS and 24 writer Howard Gordon, so hopefully that’s a good precursor, check out the first 7 minutes below and let us know what you think:

We’re not yet confirmed for a UK release date but we’re all hoping it’ll be picked up shortly!
