Gael García Bernal To Star In Zorro Reboot

20th Century Fox have unveiled Bernal (THE MOTORCYCLE DIARIES, BAD EDUCATION) as their leading man in ZORRO REBORN, which will see the masked outlaw dishing out vigilante justice in a completely new setting; a post-apocalyptic wasteland. Furthermore, the character of Zorro will be more of an anti-hero instead of a re-hash of his more typically clean-cut heroic persona. Lee Shipman and Brian McGreevy have teamed up with Glenn Gers (FRACTURE, MAD MONEY) to write the script, and producers are currently in search of a director to take on the project.

This news arguably perpetuates the notion that Hollywood have run out of ideas and are clutching at straws, however, if anyone can prove this point wrong it would be the likes of Bernal. He has had a long and diverse acting career, despite his relatively young age, and could have the experience and talent needed to turn a mediocre idea into an entertaining production.

ZORRO REBORN is due for release in the US in 2014. We will give further information regarding the UK release date as soon as possible.
