Jamie Blackley has landed the plum role as joint lead in a spin-off to Zack Snyder visually stunning 300. Rising Brit actor Blackley, who has appeared in the likes of the hit series MISFITS, Colin Farrell gangster flick LONDON BOULEVARD, and will soon be swinging swords in SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN, will star alongside ANIMAL KINGDOM’s Sullivan Stapleton in 300: BATTLE OF ARTEMESIA (a title that is still subject to change).

The film, set to be directed by Noam Murro, is based on Frank Miller’s graphic novel ‘Xerxes’This follow-up is set around the same time as the first film, with the perspective being on another set of soldiers and their battle with the Persian powerhouse and his army of seemingly unstoppable warriors. It was recently announced Stapleton would take the role of Greek hero Thermistocles. Blackley, on the other hand, will appear as Calisto, a 16-year-old boy, who wants to follow in his fathers footsteps and lead a band of his people into battle.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
