Not to be confused as a remake of Michael Caine’s star-making turn in 1964s ZULU, this is an adaptation of the 2008 ‘Grand Prix de Littérature Policière’-winning novel by Caryl Ferey, that shares only the title. The source material told of the Cape Town murder of 18 year-old girl and the subsequent investigation headed by two top South African detectives. The fact that the victim is the daughter of a famous Springboks rugby player brings its own problems, with significant media attention and pressure to solve the case quickly. It soon becomes apparent that those responsible have links to police corruption, narcotic gang lords and a former apartheid government official.
The two detectives have already been cast, with PIRATES OF THE CARRIBEAN star Orlando Bloom and BLOOD DIAMOND actor Djimon Hounsou, as the leads. The film will be directed by Jerome Salle who has helmed the French Largo Winch action-thrillers THE HEIR APPARENT (2008) and THE BURMA CONSPIRACY (2011).

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
