THE RAVEN, which is due for release on the 9th March in the UK, is the latest in a vast deluge of adaptations of Edgar Allan Poe’s wonderfully written narrative poem of the same name. As you can ascertain from the new images below, it stars John Cusack (Poe) and Alice Eve (Emily), while also boasting an impressive supporting cast, including Brendan Gleeson, Brendan Coyle and Luke Evans. James McTeigue (V FOR VENDETTA) is the orchestrator of the action; the screenplay for which was co-written by Ben Livingston and Hannah Shakespeare.
Although the source material has been re-imagined countless times, the general feeling towards the production is one of great anticipation, and if nothing else, it is another chance to admire the diversity of John Cusack, who has portrayed characters from both ends of the intellectual spectrum. From Edgar Allan Poe (one of the worlds’ finest ever literary minds), to a charmingly ridiculous character called Adam, who stumbles upon a hot tub that can transport him through time.
Let’s hope this dark and periodic thriller will be as engrossing and harrowing as the images below suggest…
