Top Gun Sequel Has A Writer

Are you ready to take another ride into the danger zone? Well Tom Cruise, director Tony Scott and producer Jerry Bruckheimer are; and joining them will be screenwriter Peter Craig.  We found last year, that the three would re-unite for a sequel to the 1986 actioner TOP GUN and now the announcement of a confirmed scribe is great news to fans of the original hit.

Craig wrote Ben Affleck’s gritty, brilliant bank robber-thriller, THE TOWN, and is currently hard at work on a third outing for Will Smith and Martin Lawrence’s BAD BOYS. There is no word yet on possible plotlines for Cruise’s character ‘Maverick’, but knowing pieces of the jigsaw are coming together makes the projects possibility of coming to fruition all the more exciting. More updates from THN as they happen.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
