‘Beautiful Creatures’ Adds Emmy Rossum To Its Cast

The supernatural love story, BEAUTIFUL CREATURES, has added another beauty to its growing cast. Emmy Rossum, who is currently starring in the US version of SHAMELESS, will join Viola Davis and Emma Thompson in the adaptation, based on the novel by Margaret Stohl and Kami Garcia.

Newcomers Jack O’Connell and Alice Englert will star as the lead characters Ethan Wate and Lena Duchannes. After Lena relocates with her father, she ultimately falls for Ethan, which in turn leads to them uncovering secrets about their family history and the small town they inhabit.

The film is to be directed by Richard LaGravense and is the first of (another!) trilogy of books which the studio will be hoping for TWILIGHT-sized success. If the film is a hit, the follow-up novels BEAUTIFUL DARKNESS and BEAUTIFUL CHAOS, are sure to be fast-tracked into production. Shooting begins in April for a release scheduled date of 1st February 2013

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
