New Stars Added To The Cast Of The Challenger

It has been revealed that two new stars have signed up to be part of Kent Moran’s  upcoming project THE CHALLENGER.

Michael Clarke Duncan (maybe best known for his role in THE GREEN MILE) and S. Epatha Merkerson (TERMINATOR 2: JUDGEMENT DAY) have both agreed to star in Moran’s dark boxing drama, which also features Justin Hartley (from SMALLVILLE, HART OF DIXIE), Ernie Sabella (from THE LION KING) and Lindsay Hartley (from DAYS OF OUR LIVES, SMALLVILLE).

The film focuses on Jaden Miller, a Bronx mechanic who – along with his adopted mother (Merkerson) – have to find somewhere else to live after being evicted. Due to the upheaval, Miller gets involved in a lifestyle he hoped to avoid – fighting. He tries everything to stop his family living on the streets, even taking up help from famous fighting trainer, played by Duncan.

Kent Moran wrote the script and will also star as Miller. His production company, Wishing Well Pictures, will produce the feature. It recently began filming in New York City.

If Duncan’s performance for THE CHALLENGER is anything like it was for The GREEN MILE, then we’re all in for a treat. The plot sounds gritty and dark, something that will definitely draw in audience members. As the plans have just been released, we’ll have to keep an eye on the updates over the next few months.

Considering Jazmine grew up watching CARRY ON SCREAMING, THE LION KING and JURASSIC PARK on repeat for weeks on end, it made sense for her to study film at London South Bank University. It’s also a good thing that her course requires a lot of sitting down because she’s very accident-prone. When she’s not examining her bruises, she likes pretending that she doesn’t live in Southend-On-Sea and spends hours mindlessly blogging. Favourite films include BLUE VALENTINE, ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND and TOY STORY 2.
