Here’s a treat for you on this Thursday afternoon, our very first look at Johnny Depp as Tonto and Armie Hammer as The Lone Ranger in the Jerry Bruckheimer produced THE LONE RANGER. Gore Verbinski directs Depp and Hammer in the film, alongside Tom Wilkinson, William Fichtner, Barry Pepper, James Badge Dale, Ruth Wilson and Helena Bonham Carter.
The flick has just completed its first week of shooting, and arrives in cinemas on 13th May 2013.
The pic was delivered by Jerry Bruckheimer himself via his Twitter account.
What do we think folks?
The Lone Ranger is a thrilling adventure infused with action and humor, in which the famed masked hero is brought to life through new eyes. Native American spirit warrior Tonto (Depp) recounts the untold tales that transformed John Reid (Hammer), a man of the law, into a legend of justice—taking the audience on a runaway train of epic surprises and humorous friction as the two unlikely heroes must learn to work together and fight against greed and corruption.

NONONONONONONO. As if it’s not bad enough to have a white man play the role that Jay Silverheels, a Mohawk man,immortalized; look at his racist as all hell costume? NO. No.No.No.
Why are racism and stereotypes about native people still allowed and even encouraged?

I know what you’re saying, Jo, but in his words:
“I guess I have some Native American [in me] somewhere down the line. My great-grandmother was quite a bit of Native American, she grew up Cherokee or maybe Creek Indian.”
I don’t think that’s a purposeful move by anyone?
