Gyllenhall On His Way To ‘Motor City’

Director Albert Hughes’ revenge-thriller MOTOR CITY, has lost its lead after THE DEVIL’S DOUBLE actor Dominic Cooper vacated the project, citing ‘scheduling conflicts’. Word is that Jake Gyllenhaal is in negotiations to replace Cooper in the story of a framed petty criminal, sent to prison for a long stretch. While inside, he hatches a plan that once released he puts into action; to bring down, the local gangland boss responsible.

Oscar-nominated actor Gary Oldman is already signed on as the big-time underworld boss, and will be joined by DRIVE ANGRY and THE RUM DIARY actress Amber Heard as Gyllenhaal’s love-interest.

The project could to be a one to keep an eye on, considering the talent involved. Here is hoping it isn’t a wasted opportunity, like Hughes previous effort THE BOOK OF ELI.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
