A New ‘Garbage Pail Kids’ Movie On The Way!

For those old enough to remember Topps’ classic trading cards and the awesome-but-terrible 1987 feature film, this news will re-ignite that childhood spark in you. Topps parody of the sweet natured, but ultimately creepy Cabbage Patch Kids, was the must have collection during my school yard days. Featuring characters that were as hilarious and outlandish as they were stomach-churningly disgusting or politically-incorrect.

Now it appears THE GARBAGE PAIL KIDS will soon be back on the big-screen, with award-winning shorts filmmaker PES (yes, really) directing from a script by Michael Vukadinovich. The original film starred the late, great Anthony Newley and was huge (cheesy) disaster but still has a huge cult following to this day. As a 7 year-old fan I lapped it up, looking back at the film now, it is actually embarrassingly awful, and badly dated. Hopefully a new generation will be able to see the magic realised to its full potential with this new adaptation.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
