Arguably Marvel’s biggest and best franchise after SPIDER-MAN and X-MEN, is their IRON MAN movie series. Featuring a brilliant deadpan Robert Downey Jr. playing self-obsessed superhero Tony Stark. He will soon be seen as part of THE AVENGERS ensemble but a third singular outing for his character is set to start shooting 21st May in North Carolina.
Taking over writing and directing duties will be Shane Black, who is famed for his quotable scripts like LETHAL WEAPON and THE LAST BOYSCOUT. He also wrote and directed the hugely-enjoyable, KISS KISS BANG BANG starring Downey Jr.; the film many see as the beginning of the actors ascent back up the Hollywood ladder after years of battling drink and drugs.
Confirmed to return to their roles opposite Downey Jr will be Don Cheadle, Gwyneth Paltrow and Scarlett Johansson. Black also went onto say just what direction this latest adventure will go, after sequel IRON MAN 2, disappointed many fans:-
The studio wasn’t happy with the result of ‘Iron Man 2,’ as a result that pretty much came about due to a rushed production schedule in an attempt to hit a release date rather than simply make a good film. ‘Iron Man 3’ will not be another, ‘two men in iron suits fighting each other.
IRON MAN 3 is expected in cinemas 3rd May 2013, and will actually mark the first time a film in the series will begin shooting with a finished script.
