Gemma Arterton To Star In Dark Comedy Wright Girls

Gemma Arterton is lined up to star in WRIGHT GIRLS, a dark comedy directed by Andy Fickman.

WRIGHT GIRLS is inspired by Yukihiko Tsutsumi’s pitch black 2003 movie 2LDK. It’s about two actresses who live together and co-star in the same TV show. They appear to be best friends but secretly despise one another. When the opportunity for a choice film role surfaces, their hatred reaches new heights and the girls try to kill each other in increasingly extravagant ways in order to secure the part.

While the other actress is yet to be cast, the movie will be written by Bert Royal, who recently found big screen success with EASY A (2010), so here’s hoping he may tempt his leading lady Emma Stone.

Andy Fickman will helm the piece, and while he’s directed Dwayne Johnson in two films (THE GAME PLAN – 2007, RACE TO WITCH MOUNTAIN – 2009) don’t expect him to bring in The Rock for this venture. The original 2LDK was a two-hander, so if this Hollywood remake takes the same approach, Arterton and her as yet unknown rival will be the only people on screen.

Arterton can be seen as a vampire in Neil Jordan’s BYZANTIUM later this year and in HANSEL AND GRETEL: WITCH HUNTERS on 11th of January 2013
