Robert Rodriguez And Frank Miller Officially Announce Sin City Sequel Details

It has only been seven years since the stylish and unique SIN CITY and, finally, SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR has been confirmed as being in pre-production by creator Frank Miller and talisman Robert Rodriquez satisfyingly continuing the project. Last month THN reported that filming was under-way sometime this year but it’s good to have the official information and who better than Rodriquez himself to continue the announcement:

“The first question I’m always asked is ‘When will you make another Sin City?'” he continues “I’ve wanted to re-team with Frank Miller and return to the world he created since the day we wrapped the original, but we have felt a duty to the fans to wait until we had something truly exceptional that would meet and exceed what have become epic expectations. A Dame To Kill For will certainly be worth the wait!”

And Frank Miller added in the official press release:

“The first Sin City knocked out audiences who had never seen anything like it before. Robert Rodriguez and I are going to shake things up and deliver a ferocious film experience that is going to go even further than the first.”

Miller has suggested that this will be an all-new story as a whole but will possibly wrap around A DAME TO KILL FOR, of which Marv (Mickey Rourke) is a big part of. Miller has co-written the screenplay with William Monahan who wrote THE DEPARTED and Dimension Films has ALSO reported that the majority of the cast are expected to return.

Filming is set to begin at Rodriquez’s studio in Austin, Texas this summer and even though it has been a long wait, it’s great to see the original team reuniting to take this further.
