Friday saw the beginning of principal photography on Scott Cooper (CRAZY HEART) drama OUT OF THE FURNACE.
Full of star names the film will follow the lives of two brothers, Russell (Christian Bale) and Rodney (Casey Affleck), as they come to terms with a prison sentence for Russell and the repercussions for both of them and the lives of their loved ones.
With Bale and Affleck involved you can guarantee some scenery will be chewed to within an inch of its life; added in Woody Harrelson as a crime boss, Forest Whitaker as the local Sheriff and Zoe Saldana as Russell’s better half, and you’ve got one of the most impressive casts of recent years.
Whilst all of this is very exciting whats got our attention in The Hollywood News office is the attachment of production designer Therese DePrez, whose previous credits include the sumptuous looking BLACK SWAN and glorious AMERICAN SPLENDOUR.
Whilst no release date is set at the moment we can’t wait to see all that acting talent in one place giving it what-for.
Directed by Scott Cooper and starring Sam Shepherd (THE RIGHT STUFF) along with the aforementioned actors, OUT OF THE FURNACE (working title) will be distributed by Relativity Media upon its release.
Sam is a bloody lovely lad born and raised in Bristol (he’s still there and can’t escape). Favourite films include THE LOST BOYS, DRIVE, FIGHT CLUB and COMMANDO, well pretty much any 1980s Arnie film you can throw his way…even RED SONJA. Sam once cancelled a Total Film subscription after they slagged off Teen Wolf. He resubscribed 2 days later.
