Norton, Penn & More In Talks To Join RoboCop Reboot!

We all know THE KILLING and SAFE HOUSE actor Joel Kinnaman will don the iconic metal bodysuit for Jose Padilha’s ROBOCOP remake. Most of us were now left wondering just who will be cast to fill the shoes of the important supporting players, so memorably played by the likes of Nancy Allen, Ronny Cox, Kurtwood Smith, Dan O’Herlihy and Miguel Ferrer.

Well, the up-and-coming Kinnaman may be joined by a collection of greats as both Oscar nominee Edward Norton and two-time winner Sean Penn are in talks to join THE ELITE SQUAD director’s futuristic reboot. Not only that, but THE TOWN actress Rebecca Hall and acclaimed Mexican actor Gael Garcia Bernal are also expected to star. Surprisingly, Norton is expected to play the role of Robocop mastermind and creator also named Norton, while Penn will take the role of ‘Novak’, a right-wing reporter. Hall’s role is to take that of Murphy’s widow Ellen and Bernal a co-officer at the Detroit Police Department.

This means we’re still waiting on casting news for villains Clarence Boddicker (along with his gang of henchmen) and Dick Jones among others.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
