Release Date Confirmed For ‘Carrie’ Remake

After beating off stiff competition from a number of Hollywood stars and up-and-comers, Chloe Grace Moretz was ecstatic; that she won the role of Carrie White in the remake to Brian DePalma’s 1976 horror classic. Now we have confirmation from the film’s director, Kimberley Peirce herself (via her Facebook page), of just when we can expect to see her interpretation on Stephen King’s tragic telekinetic-teenager.

We have a release date! March 15th 2013

I have gone back to the wonderful STEPHEN KING Book CARRIE; I am also modernizing the story as one has to in order to bring any great piece of work written in one era into the next and especially given how very relevant this material is right now.

Chloe is going deep into character to get this right….sewing her own dresses, spending time in her closet….and so much more….Thanks for all the great wishes. We are on it! And privileged to be working with such great source material.

Moretz has already shown she’s a terrific actress, starring in the likes of LET ME IN, HUGO and Tim Burton’s forthcoming DARK SHADOWS, while Peirce led Hilary Swank to a much-deserved Oscar with her directorial debut, BOYS DON’T CRY. The young actress will have a lot to live up after Sissy Spacek’s iconic role set a benchmark for female leads in horror movies.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
