Yesterday THN confirmed the release date of the recently announced CARRIE remake — 15th March 2013 to be exact — and now we can reveal some big casting news.
Four-time Oscar nominated actress Julianne Moore has signed on to play the pivotal role of Carrie’s abusive and overtly-religious mother.
The titular character is to be played by 15 year old Chloe Moretz, known for her roles in KICK ASS and LET ME IN. It’s a credible duo, and news that screenwriter Robert Aguirre-Sacasa plans to be more faithful to the book than the original adaption gives hope that this remake could really impress.
CARRIE tells the tale of a high school girl with telekentic powers. Harrassed by schoolmates and psychologically abused by her opressive mother, she users her powers to wreak revenge on prom night.
