First Trailer For ‘Sort Of’ Sequel This Is 40

Since 2005, Judd Apatow has been one of the names in US comedy. With a returning troupe of actors, great scripts, and a familiar sweet tone, his films have been some of the most successful – not to mention brilliant – of recent years. The stand out films have been those he’s directed himself (as opposed to the huge number he’s produced – mostly still great), with KNOCKED UP as perhaps the best of all. Great gags, lovable characters, and a story of emotional depth, the film proved that gross-out and stoner humour can have substance too.

Apatow’s next directorial effort is THIS IS 40, billed as ‘a sort of sequel’, which features the return of supporting characters Debbie (Leslie Mann) and Pete (Paul Rudd). In KNOCKED UP the couple’s marital troubles provided the backdrop and contrast to Seth Rogen and Katherine Heigl’s brand new relationship. Now the duo learn to deal with reaching 40, and Apatow once again puts his own spin on significant moments in adulthood. If the comedy wunderkind’s previous efforts are anything to go by, THIS IS 40 should prove to be another treat.

THIS IS 40 arrives in UK cinemas December 2012.
