New Shots From The Set Of Disney’s ‘The Lone Ranger’

It was on, then it was off. Now it is definitely on – albeit with its budget slashed significantly. We have already showcased the recent official first shot of Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer as the heroic duo, Tonto and John Reid, as well as aerial shots of the films set. Now THN brings you a collection of images from the set of Disney’s THE LONE RANGER. By the way, the guy playing Tonto in the shots is not Depp, but his uncannily impressive stunt double. Take a look!

THE LONE RANGER is being directed by PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN’s Gore Verbinski, and will co-star Willaim Fichtner, Helena Bonham Carter, Tom Wilkinson, James Badge Dale, Matt O’Leary and Barry Pepper. Below is the official plot synopsis for the film based on the iconic western series, that ran from 1949-57:-

“The Lone Ranger” is a thrilling adventure infused with action and humor, in which the famed masked hero is brought to life through new eyes. Native American spirit warrior Tonto (Johnny Depp) recounts the untold tales that transformed John Reid (Armie Hammer), a man of the law, into a legend of justice—taking the audience on a runaway train of epic surprises and humorous friction as the two unlikely heroes must learn to work together and fight against greed and corruption. Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.

This movie looks worse than the Clinton Spillsbury atrocity of the 1980’s. I definitely will pass on this. There is so much wrong in just the stills they have shown that the movie will be truly horrible for Lone Ranger fans. They should have read the new comic series from Dynamite. They brought the story up to date but kept the essence of the characters
