A-Ha! Alan Partridge Movie Finally Happening!

After years of speculation, Armando Iannucci has finally confirmed the Alan Partridge movie will shoot later in the year. The news follows the success of Partridge’s autobiography, and his revival on Mid-Morning Matters, the Internet-based series. For fans of the character, the news will come as a welcome relief: the projected has been mooted since his last TV series way back in 2002.

Alan Partridge is, of course, the TV and radio presenter alter ego of comedian Steve Coogan. The character has been written by Coogan, Iannucci and other contributors since his creation in 1992, most notably Peter Baynham.

Iannucci – currently working on the US version of THE THICK OF IT, VEEP – has confirmed the script is indeed written, and the film will likely arrive sometime in 2013. Longtime FATHER TED director Declan Lowney is tipped to take directing duties on the film, which is apparently under the working title ‘The Alan Partridge Movie’.

As Alan himself would say: ‘Kiss my face.’
