The Hulk To Smash In 2015?

Let’s not muck about – as great as it was to see Iron Man, Captain America, Thor and Co back together, the real draw of AVENGERS ASSEMBLE was Hulk. After HULK (2003) and THE INCREDIBLE HULK (2008) – both of which received mixed reactions – fanboys have been gagging for the Hulk to be done justice on the big screen. And with Joss Whedon’s AVENGERS movie, justice was indeed done. Not only does Whedon’s Hulk strike the balance between terrifying power and knowing humour, but Mark Ruffalo has the Bruce Banner alter ego honed perfectly – many critics are claiming he steals the show. Big words when compared to Robert Downey Jr’s Tony Stark.

The big question is whether the character can succeed in his own standalone movie, and it stands to reason that following the phenomenal box-office of AVENGERS ASSEMBLE, Marvel will put it to the test soon. Today we’ve heard that Paul Fitter, head of Marvel Consumer Products, has been quoted as saying the company is ‘pleasantly surprised by the phenomenal response [to the Hulk],” adding that if the character continues being this popular, Marvel will “spin him off to a stand-alone program next year’.

If this come to fruition, we can expect to see Hulk smash his way back onto the big screen for 2015. If the project foes ahead, let’s hope the tone of Whedon’s Hulk is replicated – and that Mark Ruffalo returns to the role.
