Trailer For Sundance Hit Beasts Of The Southern Wild

Fox Searchlight has released the trailer below for BEASTS OF THE SOUTHERN WILD. The film, which is set in New Orleans, recently took the Sundance Film Festival by storm, and even picked up the Grand Jury Prize for Drama.

Newcomer, Benh Zeitlin, helmed the production and co-wrote the screenplay with Lucy Alibar, the crux of which focuses on a little girl called Hushpuppy (who is portrayed by Quvenzhané Wallis in her debut performance). She is living in a vibrant community steeped in culture and beauty, but also poverty, and her only parent – an unreliable and troubled father – is ailing. So, faced with being alone in a community fast being wiped out by levee destruction, the brave six-year-old sets out on a journey to find her mother.

BEASTS, which also stars Dwight Henry and Levy Easterly, is due for release in the US on 27th June. A date has not been confirmed for the UK as yet, but we shall keep you posted on any updates.
