Jessica Chastain Out Of ‘Iron Man 3’

She appeared in a pretty large number of films last year (7 in total!), so surely if anyone could fit a supporting role in superhero blockbuster IRON MAN 3, it would be Jessica Chatain. Sadly, that appears not to be the case as the TAKE SHELTER and THE HELP Oscar-nominee, has confirmed she is unable to make it happen.

Chastain commented via her Facebook page:-

Sorry to say that ‘Iron Man’ 3 isn’t going to work out. My schedule is jammed packed and I can’t fit anything else in. The press announced my possible attachment far too soon. I know many of you wanted me to be involved, and I’m so sorry to disappoint you. Hopefully there’ll be another Marvel film in my future. Shane Black and everyone on the IM3 team are really wonderful. I’m very excited to see the film when it comes out.

So just who you guys think should take the role now vacated by the Californian beauty? She was set to play Dr. Maya Hansen, a scientist equal to Tony Stark, who is involved with the creation of the ‘Extremis nanotechnology’, so prominent to the plot of Shane Black’s soon-to-shoot sequel. Let us know your thoughts.

IRON MAN 3 begins shooting next month and will see the returning Robert Downey Jr., Don Cheadle, Gwyneth Paltrow and Scarlett Johansson joined by villains Ben Kingsley and Guy Pearce.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
