Dodgy Teaser For Phantom With Harris And Duchovny

Here is the first teaser trailer for PHANTOM, the new thriller starring Ed Harris, David Duchovny and William Fichtner.

It’s a HUNT FOR THE RED OCTOBER (1990) style submarine based jaunt which… seems a bit dodgy. Maybe the film is yet to be finished (often the case with sizzle reels and teasers) and if so, then this could seem out of line. But you may notice that it’s all close ups and precious few effects shots or wide angles. This is often a trick utilised when film makers don’t have much in the way of sets, so we get lots of close ups with actors talking about intense situations, maybe a gunshot or two and a small scuffle. This exact thing happened in MEGASHARK VS GIANT OCTOPUS. Just sayin.’

On the plus side, it has a solid cast. Harris (THE ROCK, APOLLO 13) and Duchovny (CALIFORNICATION, THE X FILES) are always watchable, and the film could gain cult status with fan favourite Fichtner (THE DARK KNIGHT, PRISON BREAK).

PHANTOM is directed by Todd Robinson, writer and director of  LONELY HEARTS (2006) starring John Travolta.  RCR Media Group and Paradigm are screening the movie during Cannes and are hoping to find a buyer for it.

Here is the trailer. Brace for impact (sort of)!

John is a gentleman, a scholar, he’s an acrobat. He is one half of the comedy duo Good Ol’ JR, and considers himself a comedy writer/performer. This view has been questioned by others. He graduated with First Class Honours in Media Arts/Film & TV, a fact he will remain smug about long after everyone has stopped caring. He enjoys movies, theatre, live comedy and writing with the JR member and hetero life partner Ryan. Some of their sketches can be seen on YouTube and YOU can take their total hits to way over 17!

Hey John, Good observation. It’s tight alright. We believe we are the first feature film to shoot entirely on an actual, practical Russian submarine. Ne technology made it possible with Red Epics, hand built LEDs all on a dimmer system. Cast and crew on a cold war sub? it was like really being there! hope you enjoy the movie.
