If you’re a fan of Michel Gondry’s ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND… well, this film looks nothing like it. Gondry is back with an intense bang with the trailer to his new film THE WE AND THE I.
Now, it’s not entirely clear what we’re dealing with here. Original details told us that the film was about a group of teenagers who travel into the future – by mistake – and stumble onto a machine which helps keep people young. However, by the looks of this trailer, that has been ditched at the last stop. It now seems as if Gondry is sticking to social realism and focusing our attention on a huge group of school kids travelling home on their last day of school. Things get said, people get laughed at and emotions run high. It looks like Gondry may have created another indie hit!
The trailer has been released ahead of the films premiere at Cannes, were it will be shown in the Directors’ Fortnight section. I wouldn’t be surprised if this received some rave reviews.
THE WE AND THE I, directed by Michel Gondry, is to premiere at Cannes. An official release date hasn’t been set.

Considering Jazmine grew up watching CARRY ON SCREAMING, THE LION KING and JURASSIC PARK on repeat for weeks on end, it made sense for her to study film at London South Bank University. It’s also a good thing that her course requires a lot of sitting down because she’s very accident-prone. When she’s not examining her bruises, she likes pretending that she doesn’t live in Southend-On-Sea and spends hours mindlessly blogging. Favourite films include BLUE VALENTINE, ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND and TOY STORY 2.
