Look inside to find the first trailer for new horror movie THE POSSESSION. And it really gets under your skin.
It stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan (WATCHMEN) and Kyra Sedgwick (THE CLOSER, KILL YOUR DARLINGS) as the parents of a little girl named Em (Natasha Calis), who buys a mysterious sealed box from a yard sale. When she manages to open it, she begins to change. Her parents notice her behaviour becoming more erratic, even violent. Could she be… POSSESSED? (yes)
This is the latest in a long line of recent child-gets-filled-with-demons flicks (THE LAST EXORCISM, INSIDIOUS, PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 3), but there’s something compelling about THE POSSESSION. Maybe it’s just a really well constructed trailer, with the kinetic Sam Raimi style camera movement (he produces), terrific edits and demonic (yet pleasingly harmonic) music. There’s also some genuinely creepy imagery in there (that final shot in the mirror… *shudder*). We at THN expect an enjoyable DRAG ME TO HELL style horror caper, hopefully with some actual scares.
THE POSSESSION is written by Juliet Snowden and Stiles White, co-writers of KNOWING (2009) and BOOGYMAN (2005) and is directed by Ole Bornedal. It’s pencilled for release on the 31st August.
