Everybody loves a ‘based on true events’ story, right? Well if you do, the upcoming thriller FROZEN GROUND will be a must-see and – luckily enough – we have some images to whet your appetite.
John Cusack plays Robert Hansen, the convicted Alaskan serial murderer found guilty of killing at least 17 women. Having stalked the streets for 13 years, it doesn’t look like he’ll be caught any time soon. However, Sergeant Jack Halcombe (played by Nicholas Cage) decides to take on the case, risking his life and livelihood trying to catch the killer. When Cindy Paulson (Vanessa Hudgens) escapes the clutches of Hansen, she finds she only has one ally – Halcombe – and together they try to bring him down. Also featuring in the film are 50 Cent (yes, you read that correctly), Dean Norris, Jodi Lyn O’Keefe and Katherine LaNasa, as well as a huge ensemble cast playing a mixture of detectives, prostitutes and dancers.
Many may throw away Cage as a ‘not-so-serious’ actor but this may prove them wrong – by the looks of the images, he can certainly pull a very serious detective face. Cusack, meanwhile, strangely suits the perverted, serial killer role. Maybe this will open up a new niche of roles for him? However, having Miss Hudgens play the lead female character troubles me a little, but it’ll be good to see her in something that doesn’t require excessive dancing and singing. As for 50 Cent – well, I don’t know what to say…
FROZEN GROUND, directed by Scott Walker, is set for release from 1st December, 2012.
