Ridley Speaks: Female Protagonist For Blade Runner 2?

Further to yesterday’s news that original screenwriter Hampton Fancher will rejoin Ridley Scott for the new BLADE RUNNER sequel, the director has revealed another small detail – that the film will have a female lead. Talking to The Daily Beast, he said the following:

I started my first meetings on the Blade Runner sequel last week. We have a very good take on it. And we’ll definitely be featuring a female protagonist.

Fans can rest easy that the characters from the beloved original will not be tampered with or resurrected in a INDIANA JONES AND THE TEMPLE OF BEING TOO OLD FOR THIS SHIT-style.

We can also take solace in that – assuming the film lives up to expectations – Scott’s return to another of his past glories, ALIEN, has proven to be one of the most exciting film events of the year.

PROMETHEUS arrives in UK cinemas 1st June.
