Duncan Jones To Tackle Ian Fleming Biopic

Some may know him as director of 2009’s MOON. Many will know him as David Bowie’s son. Well, Duncan Jones is setting out to make another name for himself – as the brave director willing to take on the task of creating a successful biopic of author Ian Fleming’s life.

Fleming was the creator and author of the James Bond novels, which many of the 007 films are based on. If you’re a Bond fan, than this is your year already, as SKYFALL is due for release in November. The news that Jones is to direct a biopic of the authors life just adds to the excitement!

Having already proved himself with MOON and action thriller SOURCE CODE (2011), Duncan is said to be excited about his new project, especially taking on the experience Fleming had during World War II:

‘Fleming lived through one of the most perilous periods in world history, in a position that allowed him a unique vantage point of all the players, all the stakes. He witnessed true heroism first-hand. And he saw the evil men could do. Then, when the war ended, he went off to write fiction. The essential question for me is: Where did Ian Fleming end and Bond begin?’

With the script already written, Jones is said to be on the look out for his stars, with production starting later this year. Having already won a BAFTA in 2010, Jones could do little more to fit the director-role perfectly. I’d bet his eyes are now focused on winning an Oscar. Could this be the film to do it? I’d hope so – proving how brilliant British talent really is.

Considering Jazmine grew up watching CARRY ON SCREAMING, THE LION KING and JURASSIC PARK on repeat for weeks on end, it made sense for her to study film at London South Bank University. It’s also a good thing that her course requires a lot of sitting down because she’s very accident-prone. When she’s not examining her bruises, she likes pretending that she doesn’t live in Southend-On-Sea and spends hours mindlessly blogging. Favourite films include BLUE VALENTINE, ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND and TOY STORY 2.

This is very exciting. For me, he’s an inspiration, and one of the best directors working today. And I think a film about Ian Fleming is long overdue!
