Disney Stops Production On Order Of The Seven

We’ve had quite enough Snow White re-imaginings for one year, thanks very much. And the bigwigs at Disney apparently agree, as they’ve closed down production on ORDER OF THE SEVEN indefinitely.

The project has been in development with the House of Mouse for a decade, and has been through various guises over this time, even as a Kung-Fu version of the fairytale at one stage. It’s likely the production has been halted due to the financial woes of lukewarm blockbuster JOHN CARTER, the failure of which has a great deal to do with Disney’s mishandling of the marketing and indecision on what the film was exactly (evidenced in their constant title changing of the movie). If ORDER OF THE SEVEN has been the object of such dillydallying (and after a decade of pre-production, we can assume it has), perhaps it’s a good thing production has been shut down.

The film was set to be directed by newcomer Michael Gracey and star Saorise Ronan, and tell the story of seven warriors charged with protecting a fair maiden. Which, to be honest, sounds a bit rubbish anyway.
