Reports are coming out that Paramount Pictures have decided to delay the release of GI JOE: RETALIATION until March 2013 so they can do, a possibly pointless, 3D conversion. The story was first broken by our friends at Deadline but any official wording on this is curious in its absence; plus surely a January release would be better for that late Oscar push for Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson? Whether this story is definite or not we shall have to wait and see but the official website still has a June release date advertised for the US. Very strange indeed, particularly given the fact Paramount have spent inordinate amounts of money promoting the film in the US and internationally, specifically on the Super-Bowl TV spot.
Despite my questioning of the story and its source (unnamed studio exec) pushing the film back does make sense given the leviathan of ‘man films’ released this summer – THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN, THE DARK KNIGHT RISES and WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU’RE EXPECTING…sSo watch this space GI Joe-rs and let us know what you make of this development.
GI JOE: RETALIATION stars Bruce Willis, Channing Tatum, Ray Park and Dwayne Johnson and is due for release…um, yeah about that.

Sam is a bloody lovely lad born and raised in Bristol (he’s still there and can’t escape). Favourite films include THE LOST BOYS, DRIVE, FIGHT CLUB and COMMANDO, well pretty much any 1980s Arnie film you can throw his way…even RED SONJA. Sam once cancelled a Total Film subscription after they slagged off Teen Wolf. He resubscribed 2 days later.
