It is being reported this evening that that CASINO ROYALE and VALHALLA RISING star Mads Mikkelsen is set to play Hannibal Lecter in the new NBC TV series HANNIBAL. Mikkelesen is hot property over in Hollywood at the moment after recently scoring the villain role in THOR 2, and bagging hiself a Best Actor award at last month’s Canne Film Festival for his work in THE HUNT.
The new TV series will be based around characters featured in the famous novels by Robert Harris. Hugh Dancy leads the show as FBI agent Will Graham, a role previously played by William Peterson in MANHUNTER and Edward Norton in the more recent RED DRAGON.
The new show will run for 13 episodes with the pilot directed by David Slade, a director that we’d rather remember for films like HARD CANDY and 30 DAYS OF NIGHT, rather than TWILIGHT BREAKING DAWN.
