Remember that scene in THE DARK KNIGHT when Lucius Fox shows Bruce Wayne the Tumbler, and the brilliant Bat-billionaire fires off that witty one-liner: ‘Does it come in black?’
Well, as it turns out, it comes in whatever colour you want it to. Thanks to the tech-heads over at Wayne Enterprises (well, Warner Bros), anyone can now create, design and customise their own 21st century Batmobile: the Tumbler, introduced in 2008’s jaw-dropping masterpiece THE DARK KNIGHT.
The Tumbler will return again in this summer’s THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, though exactly who’s side they’ll be on is yet to be established – camouflaged versions have been spotted following around Tom Hardy’s Bat-nemesis Bane, while Batman looks to instead be sporting some marvellous new flying machine.
We’ll find out for sure on 20th July, when the film hits IMAX and cinema screens worldwide. Until then, head on over to tumblerdesigner.com and have a play around. You can use preloaded colours, patterns and materials to customise your very own Batcar, and even upload your own images. When you’re done, you can save it as a wallpaper, show it off online or take it for a test drive at Wayne Industries’ Applied Sciences Division.
And don’t forget to take a look at THN’s own Spidey-Bat mashup below for inspiration…
THE DARK KNIGHT RISES stars Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Gary Oldman, Michael Caine, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Morgan Freeman. It is due for release on 20th July 2012, and you can book your tickets now.
