For those hiding under a rock for the last four years, BREAKING BAD is one of US TV’s finest dramas. The ANC series follows Walter White an under-appreciated chemistry teacher who is diagnosed with terminal cancer, prompting him to start cooking meth in the hopes of making enough wonga to support his family after his death. Intense, cerebral, and darkly comic BREAKING BAD is seriously addictive stuff – thanks in no small part to the lead performances, most notably Bryan Cranston as drug lord-in-the-making Walter.
Now approaching its fifth (and reportedly final) season, fans are expecting show creator Vince Gilligan to wrap up the show in a suitably phenomenal manner. But when speaking to the LA Times, star Cranston has let on that there may be more story yet to come…
‘Vince feels that now we have too much story,’ Cranston says. ‘We could actually go beyond those 16 episodes.’
When asked if he had considered the possibility of a movie, the actor continued: ‘It’s not far-fetched. I wouldn’t mind visiting that possibility. And this is coming from a guy who doesn’t know anything of how the show’s going to end. If it doesn’t end up in a total apocalypse, who knows? Maybe we could revisit Walter White a year down the road and see where his life has gone. If he’s still alive, that is.’
For anyone who’s seen BREAKING BAD, the idea of a movie polishing of the story is an exciting prospect. For those who haven’t, stop wasting your life and get involved – it’s pure TV dynamite.
The final 16 episodes are set to be split over this and next year.
Bryan Cranston can be seen in the upcoming TOTAL RECALL remake.
