Arnett And Tatum Star As Batman And Superman…Well, The Lego Versions Anyway

With this years release of AVENGERS ASSEMBLE, THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN and THE DARK KNIGHT RISES I think we’ve had our fair share of superheroes for the time being. “No, no! How will I survive?” I hear you cry. Well, until you get your hands on tickets for the latter two films, we have some exciting news involving Batman, some Lego bricks and Channing Tatum.

It has been announced that CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS directing-duo Phil Lord and Chris Miller are behind the toy-to-film adaptation, which will take the little brick and expand the idea way beyond what you can imagine. So far named LEGO: THE PIECE OF RESISTANCE, Chris Pratt (MONEYBALL) is to voice the character of Emmet, a simple, above-board Lego figure who is mistaken for a MasterBuilder (make sure you say that correctly…). He is then sucked into an elite fellowship whose job is to stop an evil, overpowering force that aims to glue the whole Lego universe together, one brick at a time. No-one is safe, so who should be written into the script but…Superman AND Batman! Channing Tatum (21 JUMP STREET) is set to voice the slick haired, leotard wearing Superman while Will Arnett (ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT) is to play the superhero everyone wants to be (even if it’s the Lego version): Batman.

Yes, it’s not quite on the scale of TDKR but I think this could be a hit. I’m already a fan of CLOUDY… so why wouldn’t I be a fan of this? It has Lego. It has humour. It has Batman. This could be animation gold!

LEGO: THE PIECE OF RESISTANCE, directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, is scheduled for a February 2014 release.

Considering Jazmine grew up watching CARRY ON SCREAMING, THE LION KING and JURASSIC PARK on repeat for weeks on end, it made sense for her to study film at London South Bank University. It’s also a good thing that her course requires a lot of sitting down because she’s very accident-prone. When she’s not examining her bruises, she likes pretending that she doesn’t live in Southend-On-Sea and spends hours mindlessly blogging. Favourite films include BLUE VALENTINE, ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND and TOY STORY 2.
