Cast & Crew Confirmed for Game of Thrones Season Three

HBO have officially revealed the names of the luckiest folks working in television, after confirming the individuals who’ll be bringing the much anticipated third season of GAME OF THRONES to our TV screens next year.

Unsurprisingly, the list of writers for season three is identical to that of season two: showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, story-editor Bryan Cogman, co-executive producer Vanessa Taylor, and author of the book series George R.R. Martin (who is reportedly scripting the seventh episode of the season, entitled ‘Autumn Storms’).

The directing roster is the more exciting news! Firstly, we have newcomers Michelle MacLaren (THE WALKING DEAD, BREAKING BAD) and Alex Graves (THE WEST WING), whilst both Benioff & Weiss will be making their directorial debut (whether on separate episodes or together, we don’t yet know).

The remaining episodes of the season will be helmed by returning directors Daniel Minahan (director of three episodes in Season One); Alik Sakharov (formerly one of the first season’s Directors of Photography, before directing for season two); and David Nutter, who will be helming the final two episodes of the season.

Season Three is based on the first half of the third novel in the popular SONG OF FIRE & ICE series by George R.R. Martin, A STORM OF SWORDS. Production gets underway in Belfast in early July.

GAME OF THRONES Season Three is expected to air in Spring 2013.

From an early age, Matt Dennis dreamt of one day becoming a Power Ranger. Having achieved that dream back in the noughties, he’s now turned his hand to journalism and broadcasting. Matt can often be found in front of a TV screen, watching his current favourite shows such as DOCTOR WHO, GAME OF THRONES, SHERLOCK, DAREDEVIL, and THE WALKING DEAD, though he’s partial to a bit of vintage TV from yesteryear. Matt also co-presents the Geek Cubed podcast, which you can download from iTunes. It’s quite nice.

Very sorry for the Typo! It’s actually A Song of Ice & Fire! Apologies. I will go and take up the Black in penance for this terrible mistake!
