Thor To Reunite With Stellan Skarsgård

Having made around $449 million at the box office, is it any wonder THOR is returning to the big screen for a sequel? We knew that Chris Hemsworth would be picking up his hammer again to lead the cast and now we know that Stellan Skarsgård will be rejoining him as scientist Erik Selvig.

Skarsgård has had a very busy few years, including the release of MELANCHOLIA, THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO, AVENGERS ASSEMBLE and KING OF DEVIL’S ISLAND, which he is currently promoting. And his schedule doesn’t look like it’s calming down any time soon. In a recent interview he confirmed he is trying to fit filming for THOR 2 around featuring in an upcoming Lars Von Trier project, saying ‘I will try to combine Thor 2 which starts in August and goes to the end of December with the new Lars Von Trier film.’ With 122 titles in his career bank already, Skarsgård will continue to be one of Sweden’s biggest exports.

THOR 2 will feature Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, Idris Elba as Heimdall and Anthony Hopkins as Odin. Alan Taylor, the director behind several episodes of SEX AND THE CITY, THE SOPRANOS, MAD MEN and GAME OF THRONES is to take the reigns on the sequel, hopefully keeping it in the style of the first installment.

Skip along to 7:30 on the video to check out Skarsgård talking about his filming plans.

THOR 2 will be in cinemas from 8th November 2013.

Considering Jazmine grew up watching CARRY ON SCREAMING, THE LION KING and JURASSIC PARK on repeat for weeks on end, it made sense for her to study film at London South Bank University. It’s also a good thing that her course requires a lot of sitting down because she’s very accident-prone. When she’s not examining her bruises, she likes pretending that she doesn’t live in Southend-On-Sea and spends hours mindlessly blogging. Favourite films include BLUE VALENTINE, ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND and TOY STORY 2.
