Lucy Hale For Raunchy ‘Fifty Shades’ Role?

With the novel FIFTY SHADES OF GREY currently inhabiting a massive portion of women’s (and some men’s) bedside tables, is it any wonder a plan for a film adaptation is in the works. With lots of speculation around who would play whom, it looks as if young starlet Lucy Hale (PRETTY LITTLE LIARS, SCREAM 4) is in the running.

If she accepted the lead role of Anastasia Steele, Hale would be entering the dark and mysterious world of Christian Grey, a manipulative billionaire who controls Steele’s life, even down to the point of who she sleeps with (mainly him). When approached on the topic of the adaptation Hale has said, ‘I definitely am ready to take a step and do something a bit more risky, absolutely, but it’s a fine line. I don’t know what that fine line is, but I’m definitely ready to explore a darker side of my acting abilities.’ However, only being 23, some fans of the book (and of Hale) have said she may better suit playing the younger sister: ‘People have said that, but people have also said [I could play] the little sister, which I think could make sense, because I look a little young for Ana, but God, what a big role to take on.’

I seem to be the only lady in Britain who hasn’t read the trilogy, so I’m not one to comment – however, having sold over 10 million copies worldwide (and being the UK’s fastest selling paper-back novel, passing the HARRY POTTER series),  the book has a huge fan base. Being dubbed ‘Mummy Porn’ due to its erotic themes and narratives, who knows how far the film will take it. I really wouldn’t be surprised if it’s given an 18-certificate on release…

Considering Jazmine grew up watching CARRY ON SCREAMING, THE LION KING and JURASSIC PARK on repeat for weeks on end, it made sense for her to study film at London South Bank University. It’s also a good thing that her course requires a lot of sitting down because she’s very accident-prone. When she’s not examining her bruises, she likes pretending that she doesn’t live in Southend-On-Sea and spends hours mindlessly blogging. Favourite films include BLUE VALENTINE, ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND and TOY STORY 2.
