New Images From Set Of The June Carter Cash Story

You would think that playing one of country music’s biggest stars would put a tonne of pressure onto an actress, but it doesn’t seem that way with Jewel. New images have emerged showing the songstress relaxed and smiling on the set of Lifetime’s THE JUNE CARTER CASH STORY, where she is playing the title character, June Carter Cash.

Jewel (better known for her own musical career) has transformed herself for the role, where she will star opposite Matt Ross (BIG LOVE), who is to play Johnny Cash. With the brown bouffant hair, perfect teeth and feminine dresses, Jewel really fits the part.

The story is an adaptation of the book ‘Anchored in Love: An Intimate Portrait of June Carter Cash’ which was written by her son, John Carter Cash. The film will depict her early life in Virginia, her musical success and her two marriages – the first to Carl Smith (played by Linds Edwards), the second to Cash, which was one of music’s biggest love stories. It’ll be interesting to see how the film does compared to the silver screen version WALK THE LINE, which starred Reese Witherspoon as June. Witherspoon received an Academy Award for Best Actress in the role – maybe Jewel will experience the same success.

This TV film is one of a number of Lifetime’s projects for this year – another includes LIZ AND DICK, which features troublesome starlet Lindsay Lohan.

THE JUNE CARTER CASH STORY will premiere later on this year.

Considering Jazmine grew up watching CARRY ON SCREAMING, THE LION KING and JURASSIC PARK on repeat for weeks on end, it made sense for her to study film at London South Bank University. It’s also a good thing that her course requires a lot of sitting down because she’s very accident-prone. When she’s not examining her bruises, she likes pretending that she doesn’t live in Southend-On-Sea and spends hours mindlessly blogging. Favourite films include BLUE VALENTINE, ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND and TOY STORY 2.
