Andy Griffiths June 1 1926 – July 3 2012

It is with great sadness we at THN bear the news of Andy Griffiths passing at the age of 86 peacefully at his home with his wife Cindi at his side. Griffiths was known as a regular on THE ED SULLIVAN SHOW for many years before hitting it big with THE ANDY GRIFFITHS SHOW which ran for 8 years in the 1960s, however his star didn’t fade with the demise of that show in 1968 as in 1986 Griffiths won the role of Benjamin Matlock in MATLOCK (yes the one Grandpa Simpson is always on about). His passing is sad news for the many, many fans he has around the world and the final word must go to his beloved wife:

Andy was a person of incredibly strong Christian faith and was prepared for the day he would be called Home to his Lord…He is the love of my life, my constant companion, my partner, and my best friend. I cannot imagine life without Andy, but I take comfort and strength in God’s Grace and in the knowledge that Andy is at peace and with God.

Sam is a bloody lovely lad born and raised in Bristol (he’s still there and can’t escape). Favourite films include THE LOST BOYS, DRIVE, FIGHT CLUB and COMMANDO, well pretty much any 1980s Arnie film you can throw his way…even RED SONJA. Sam once cancelled a Total Film subscription after they slagged off Teen Wolf. He resubscribed 2 days later.
