Dredd Motion Poster Promotes Comic-Con Screening

Lionsgate have just released a motion poster for their upcoming adaptation of 2000 AD’s DREDD. DREDD takes part in a future where the Earth is almost inhospitable, save for a few huge cities. With excessive amounts of crime, law enforcers known as Judges are placed in charge of being judge, jury and executioner. The most infamous of these judges is Judge Dredd, who must lead a team into a building complex to take down the mastermind behind a new drug known as Slo-Mo. Written by Alex Garland and directed by Pete Travis, this film looks set to undo the awful memory of JUDGE DREDD (1995) which starred Sylvester Stallone.

The excellent motion poster just released has Judge Dredd uttering ‘Sentence is death’ before turning and shooting. This poster is mostly circulating to promote the recently announced screening of the film that is to take place at Comic-Con later this month. The screening will take place on July 11th at 10pm. The studio must have some confidence to go directly after the fans first, especially two months in advance of its actual release date. Karl Urban plays Judge Dredd and has already promised the helmet is staying on. Let’s hope this will be a solid action film.

DREDD is released 7th September 2012. It stars Karl Urban, Lena Headey, and Olivia Thirlby.
